New Innovation Models for Smarter & Specialised Regions
Krynica (Poland), 8-10 th September 2015

VIsion hosted a conference during the 25th Economic Forum in Krynica-Zdrój (Poland), 8-10 September 2015.

On the 9th September, Vision organized and moderated the round table "New Innovation Models for Smarter & Specialised Regions".

Too often, policymakers treat investment and economic growth with overgeneralized theories and methods. Smart-specialization seeks to address the innovation process by allocating structural funds in an efficient and logical way, in accordance to the particular needs of a certain region.  Which specific priorities does each region have, and what unique challenges do they face in order to overcome them? What are strengths and shortcomings of the region? How to choose smart specializations? How to institutionalize the entrepreneurial discovery process?  Answering to these questions is essential to clarify the potential each region has moving forward into the 21st century.

Among the speakers of the conference:  Marek Przeor (Head of Sector Smart and Sustainable Growth, Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, European Commission), Francesco Grillo (Vision), Joachim Schonowski (Senior Expert Smart City, Telekom Innovation Laboratories, Germany), Joakim Larsson (Regional President, West Götaland Region, Sweden), Katarina Hazuchova (Independent Environmental Analyst, Slovakia), Stanislaw Sienko (Deputy Mayor, City of Rzeszów, Poland),  Alina Gendele (Chair, Latgale Planning Region, Latvia).
