Gianluca Galletto
Gianluca is the director of strategic development at Muzinich & Co., Inc., in New York. He previously held the position of assistant portfolio manager and analyst. Muzinich is an investment company specializing in managing corporate credit. Before joining Muzinich, he was a research assistant at Yale University. He holds an M.A. In International Economics from Yale and a 'Laurea' in economics from Bocconi University in Milan. After Bocconi, in 1992 he moved to Brussels to work at the EU Commission, first as an Intern and then as a consultant. Only in 1996, he moved to Yale. The road has been quite long from the small 'city of ceramics' (Grottaglie) in Puglia where he comes from. Gianluca is fluent in English and French (and Italian), plus a few Southern Italian dialetcs and is not bad with Spanish.. and he even knows some Dutch. He now wants to learn Portuguese... He always had a strong passion for music (especially jazz). His other passions are politics and international affairs. Very active with social and cultural events in the Italian community in New York, he is also the founder and president of Ulivo USA and he has devoted a tremendous amount of energy in the past 8 years to promoting italian culture and political culture of Italians in New York. He was the coordinator of the campaign of L'Unione in the past general election in the "North America" district. He has also established inportant ties between the Italian center-left and the U.S. democrats. When the candidates for the north america district were being chosen in Rome for the april 2006 election, his name circulated in the press which reported that he had received an endorsement of John Edwards, Sen. Chalres Schumer (NY) and Al Gore. Finally, Gianluca has collaborated with some important Italian national newspapers like Il Sole 24 ore and l'Unita' and for Rai TV. Gianluca was born in Taranto in 1969.  |
